10年もの長きにわたりジャズから姿を消していた（といってもその才能を生かしてTV音楽等で活躍していた）伝説のトロンボーン奏者J.J.ジヨンソンの復活ライヴ、1988年7月、ニューヨーク、ヴィレッジ・ヴァンガードでのライブ録音。 ヴィレッジ・ヴァンガードの初日（このライヴの前日）には新旧あらゆるトロンボーン奏者が集まって、スライド・ハンプトンが代表してJ.J.に対する尊敬の念と彼の偉業に対して感謝の念を表したトロンボーン奏者一同の色紙をプレゼントした！という。 なお、このライブからもう1枚Standards：Live at the Village Vanguard Vol.2がリリースされている。 パーソネル J.J.
